There is nothing like a road trip. Every mile is a new adventure. New scenery, new places to eat, new attractions…all worth discovering.

A Cadillac has always been the ultimate road trip vehicle, as it immerses drivers and passengers alike in sumptuous luxury, unparalleled refinement, and formidable performance.

Travel has changed. So has Cadillac. With an expanding line of electric vehicles, you can enjoy a road trip without taking in a drop of gasoline while enveloping yourself and your fellow passengers in the finest of cabins. Car and Driver recently did exactly that, taking a 2026 Escalade IQL on a long road trip of approximately 1,600 miles.

The 2026 Escalade IQL is a great choice for such a trek for plenty of reasons. Underneath its skin is a 205-kilowatt-hour battery pack, with a capability to yield 460 miles of range when fully charged. This battery feeds a dual-motor driveline that puts down 750 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque.

On road trips, time is of the essence. When you are using a DC Fast Charger, the 2026 Escalade IQL can recharge its battery pack at a rate of 350 kW. That translates into returning 116 miles of range in just 10 minutes. Drivers also have access to hundreds of thousands of DC Fast Chargers across North America through the myCadillac Mobile app with Plug & Charge.

Once on the road, Escalade IQL lets passengers enjoy the journey, especially if they’re interested in enjoying digital content offered through a variety of apps through the vehicle’s Google Built-In technology and the Google Play Store. You can view this content through the 55-inch Horizon Display up front and the video entertainment screens offered for the second- and third-rows.

Escalade IQL offers some advanced technologies ideal for long journeys, too. The available Night Vision feature helps drivers see beyond the immediate reach of the headlights using thermal imaging. And on select roads, the available Super Cruise hands-free driver assistance feature can assist in piloting the Escalade while merely keeping eyes on the road ahead.

How did the 2026 Escalade IQL held up over 1,600 miles? Car and Driver happily confirm that it can recharge quickly, offer a luxury cabin and has praised the Super Cruise. They call the 2026 Escalade IQL a “luxurious long-distance runner,” meeting its “promise” of what it delivers to its guests.
